Pendulum release new single ‘Save The Cat’ and confirm first album in 15 years
The legendary electronic band return with their first full album in 15 years, featuring collaborations with Bullet For My Valentine, Wargasm, and more.
Pendulum have officially announced Inertia – their first full album in 15 years – and have dropped raw new single ‘Save The Cat’ as a taster of what’s to come. The band’s last album, Immersion, came out in 2010, so it’s safe to say this has been a long time coming.
The 16 track album lands on August 22 and features a stacked guest list including Bullet For My Valentine, Wargasm, Scarlxrd, AWOLNATION and more.
According to the band, Inertia began to take shape in 2020 and continues to build on 2021’s Elemental and 2023’s Anima EPs, which were the blueprint for the band’s future and their new direction.
In making the new album, Rob Swire said the aim was to see how far Pendulum could push their sound – with The Prodigy mentioned as a key influence.
“They started out as pure rave - breakbeat, hardcore - but they evolved. They became their own sound,” adding “They just are The Prodigy,” he said. “That’s what we’re trying to be with Pendulum.”
This new direction is embedded into their latest single, the unapologetically heavy, ‘Save The Cat’. The result is a screamo-style track that’s raw, loud, and nothing like a comeback single designed to play it safe.
Speaking about the single, Rob said it came from “a period of self-questioning and frustration” and was written after two breakups – one slow, one sudden.
The band completed their biggest UK headline tour to date in 2024, including a stop at London’s O2 Arena. But fans can look forward to some extra excitement this year with a batch of fresh new tracks to enjoy live.
They’ll be taking on the UK festival circuit in 2025, including a massive headline show at Milton Keynes Bowl on August 9th.
